FAQ

Do you offer in-person or virtual sessions?

Yes, I offer in-person sessions in Guelph, Ontario, and secure virtual sessions for clients anywhere in Ontario.

What are your fees?

Sessions are $160 (individuals) and $200 (couples) per 50-minute session. A limited number of sliding scale spaces are available for those experiencing financial hardship. If cost is a concern, you’re welcome to ask about current availability.

Is therapy covered by insurance?

Most extended health insurance plans in Ontario provide coverage for services offered by a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) or Registered Psychotherapist. Receipts are provided after each session for reimbursement.

What happens in the first session?

The first session is a chance to:

  • Talk about what’s bringing you to therapy
  • Ask questions
  • Get a sense of whether working together feels like a good fit

How long does therapy take?

This varies. Some people come for a few weeks or months to work on a specific issue, while others continue longer to work more deeply on patterns and personal growth. We will check in periodically about goals and progress.

Is therapy confidential?

Yes. Everything discussed in therapy is confidential, with a few legal and ethical exceptions required by law. If any of these situations arise, I will discuss them with you whenever possible. These include situations where:

  • There is risk of serious harm to yourself or someone else
  • A child may be at risk of harm
  • Records are required by a court order

What if I don’t know what to say?

That’s completely normal. Many people begin therapy feeling unsure where to start. Part of my role is to help guide the conversation at a pace that feels comfortable.

What if I’ve never been to therapy before?

Many of my clients are new to therapy. You don’t need to know how it works or what to expect - we’ll figure that out together.

Do you work with men?

Yes. Many of my clients are men who are working through isolation, relationships, emotional numbness, pornography concerns, or habits they want to change. Therapy provides a space to speak openly and work toward real, lasting change.
